The Marjory Stoneman Douglas boys and girls golf teams were crowned BCAA Champions on Monday following their incredible day at the Country Club of Coral Springs.
Individually, Elisa Hernandez finished second overall for the girls’ team, shooting a 71. Sutton Oosterhuis placed fifth with a 79, while Sophia Akala Marks, Ella Thompson, and Stella Marvel all contributed to the win.
“The tournament today was challenging for the girls, but they stayed tough and battled to a solid finish,” Head Coach Jonathan Smith said. “Last year, they took second place in this tournament, so they were very motivated and were making sure that this time was a different result.”
The boys’ team had two players who placed eighth overall: Josh Lieberman and Carson Meredith. They each shot a 73, while Max Rosen finished with a 77, and Andres Hernandez recorded an 83.
“We’re always excited to be able to participate in a wonderful tournament such as the BCAA and thank everyone who organized the day, ” Head Coach Darren Levine said. “The guys pushed through some patchy rain and whirling wind, and we’re happy to hold a trophy today as a team.”
Next, MSD teams will next play at the District Championship on Tuesday, October 29, at the Country Club of Coral Springs.
