Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s track and field season is officially underway, with the Eagles competing against Coral Springs High School, Coral Springs Charter, and Coconut Creek High School on Tuesday.
The boys took first place with the Eagles shining in the relay races with Brandon Allman, Bryson Gittens, Krish Sule, and Jeremiah Makin winning the 4 x 100 and Andres Abreu, Emery Jackson, Tevye Singh, Joseph Cardinale inning the 4x 800. Also, Andres Abreu, Alex Black, Connor Mazzilli, and Cardinale came in second in 4 x 400, just ahead of Quinn McCluskey, Singh, Jackson, and Noah Ryan.
Individually, Singh won the 800 meters, and Aiden Miler, Cardinale, Spinks, and James Bronzwaig all placed second in their respective events, while Sahil Sule, Jeremiah Makin, Robert Peart, Emery Jackson, Noah Ryan, Caleb Walker, Vasco Velarde, and Ethan Engleman all placed at least in the top-five.
The girls team finished second place behind Naomi Grissette, winning the 100 meters. Nina Duggan and Anikanylah Michel won the long and triple jumps, respectively. At the same time, MSD took all three spots on the podium in the pole Vault with Kyanne Meredith coming in first, followed by Elle Speas and Colbie Brooker. Jeannelle Jonca, Arianna Abreu, Annie Mello, and Taylor Strausall placed in the top five.
