On June 23, the City of Parkland gathered to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Wedge Preserve Park—a future landmark that promises to blend open space, recreation, and community spirit.
Located at the corner of Hillsboro Boulevard and Nob Hill Road, Wedge Preserve Park will span 36 acres and offer a wide array of recreational amenities. From a mini play village to splash pads, walking trails, a ninja course, and more, the park is designed to be a place where families, friends, and neighbors can connect and create lifelong memories.
“Wedge Preserve Park reflects the values that define Parkland: access to play, open space for gatherings, and that unmistakable small-town charm that makes our city feel like home,” said Mayor Rich Walker, who led the ceremony. “Whether it’s a friendly pickleball match, a child’s first hit on the ball field, or neighbors simply walking the trails together, this is a place where lifelong memories will be made.”
During the event, Mayor Walker recognized the vision and collaboration of both current and former members of the City Commission, along with community leaders, including State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky, Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine, and Broward County School Board Member Lori Alhadeff. City staff, along with representatives from the park’s architecture firm CPH Inc. and general contractor Kaufman Lynn Construction, were also present.
