The Parkland Chamber of Commerce will hold a forum on Oct. 9 for Parkland City Commission candidates to answer residents’ questions.
The “Candidates Forum and Breakfast” at the Marriott at 11775 Heron Bay Blvd. will allow residents to meet and hear from candidates Neil Kanterman, Howard Berger, and Cynthia Murphy-Salomone.
Organizers said registration for the event and a networking period will begin at 8 a.m., with the breakfast and candidate forum kicking off at 8:30 a.m.
Questions for the candidates should be sent in advance to info@parklandchamber.org. Candidates will not have access to the questions before the event.
Kanterman – a medical doctor who co-owns Parkland’s CrossFit facility with his wife, Andrea – is expected to win the seat as an unopposed candidate for Seat 4. Longtime community leader Golden Johansson suspended her campaign for the seat in May, citing health challenges.
Commission Seat 4 is currently held by Bob Mayersohn, who is term-limited heading into the Nov. 5 election.
Berger and Murphy-Salomone are running for Commission Seat 3.
Berger was originally elected to the Lauderhill City Commission in 1984 and served in that role through 1990. He was elected again in 2004. Voters subsequently reelected him in 2008, 2012, and 2016. He was term-limited and ineligible to run in 2020.
Murphy-Salomone, an attorney, currently serves as the managing legal product director for Travelers Insurance. Before that she worked for Progressive for 19 years, according to her LinkedIn page.
Commission Seat 3 is currently held by Ken Cutler, who is term-limited.
Frank Farro, owner of Acton Academy North Broward in Coral Springs and Vice President for Technology at Virgin Voyages, will moderate the candidate forum.

According to the chamber, trustee members who cancel after noon on Tuesday, October 8, will be charged a $20 no-show fee.
