Parkland Bay resident and Florida Panthers forward Ryan Lomberg is officially a Stanley Cup Champion following his run this season, but he is headed to the Calgary Flames after signing his new contract.
Lomberg’s new contract is two years at two million dollars. Initially born in Ontario, Lomberg went undrafted in 2015 and began his NHL career with the Flames. He played five years north of the border before signing a two-year contract with the Panthers in 2020.
After scoring two goals and four points in 34 games, he signed an extension with Florida and finished the 2023-24 season with five goals and two assists. He also had 80 penalty minutes, including a pair of flights.
During the postseason, Lomberg played eight more games and was active for the Panthers’ first Stanley Cup history. Along with all his success on the ice, Lomberg is married to Marissa, whom he met while in college at the University of Maine. They have two kids, Roman and Lennons, born in 2022 and 2023.
