Jackson Taylor, a junior on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball team, has officially committed to playing college baseball in the SEC with the University of South Carolina.
Taylor says it feels amazing to commit and has been waiting his entire life for this moment.
“South Carolina was unlike any other school I’ve been to,” Taylor said. “I believe that the coaches at South Carolina can help me be the version of myself.”
Taylor started playing baseball when he was six and has played travel ball for the Original Florida Pokers, CBU, and Parkland Pokers. He began his high school baseball career at Coral Springs Charter, where he hit .282. Both of his home runs came during his sophomore season, as he also drove in 20 runs. Taylor will have two more years playing with MSD, as they have won the last five State Championships and four National Titles.
“Playing for a team like Douglas is such an incredible opportunity to me because a team like Douglas, you are consistently pushed and motivated to play to the best of your abilities,” Taylor added.
Taylor hopes to improve his body and increase his strength so he is ready to play at the college level. The Gamecocks last competed in the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
