Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s third annual Dance Marathon raised $27,000 for children.
Dance Marathon is a movement involving college and high school students at more than 300 schools across North America, which raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. In South Florida, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is the recipient.
On March 16, Chelsea Briggs, an English teacher and club advisor, co-organized the event alongside teacher Coral Bachen.
Over the years, the event has gained significant success and impact, becoming a large event for the school that brings together students and the wider community to support a noble cause.
Highlighting the event was the recognition of senior Ivana Chalik, whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in the marathon’s success.
Chalik, who will attend Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall and aspires to become a pediatric nurse, was awarded a $100 scholarship for her commitment to the club and the Children’s Miracle Network. According to Briggs, Michele Barrack of Lice Lifters donated this scholarship.
Additionally, a unique contribution from MVP Environmental Solutions, Inc. added a touch of magic to the event by donating a Ninja gym experience to a “miracle child,” bringing joy and excitement to a young life.
