After a challenging school year that included in-person and online learning, the Parkland city commission took the opportunity to recognize local principals and their staff.
Seven representatives attended from area schools, including Heron Heights Elementary, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Mary Help of Christians Catholic School, Riverglades Elementary, Somerset Parkland Academy, Westglades Middle School, and Park Trails Elementary were recognized.
Mayor Rich Walker said as circumstances and protocols changed, the principals and school personnel adapted.
“This pattern repeated itself many times over, and every time our principals stepped up to ensure our students were taken care of,” he said.
The schools provided reliable home internet services throughout the year and kept students, faculty, and staff safe.
“Through it all, our principals took the lead to ensure the best possible learning experience for Parkland students,” said Walker.
The commission thanked the administrators for their dedication, perseverance, and caring for Parkland’s children.
