Parkland residents will not see an increase in their city millage rate, as it will remain unchanged for the fifth consecutive year.
The preliminary millage rate and Parkland budget were presented during the July 8 meeting. The commission approved a resolution to send a proposed millage rate of 4.2979 mills to the property appraiser for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, which begins October 1, 2025.
The FY 2026 proposed budget is balanced at $79,880,100 for all funds and $58,570,000 for the General Fund. This budget was balanced with no increase to the proposed millage rate of 4.2979 mills.
This rate has remained the same for the past five years; however, homeowners may experience an increase in their taxes due to a rise in the assessed value of their homes.
Parkland taxes for a homeowner with a property valued at $100,000 would pay $429.97, at $500,000, $2,148.95, and at $1 million, $4,297.90, based on the proposed millage rate.
The City’s total taxable values increased 6.7% due to existing property values rising 5.81% and $72.867 million of new taxable value added to the tax roll. These values, set by the Broward County Property Appraiser, form the basis of the City’s ad valorem revenue.
The proposed FY 2026 fire assessment fee is $327.06 per residential unit, which is 5.17% higher than the 2025 adopted fire assessment. This increase represents the proposed contractual increase for fire rescue services with the City of Coral Springs.
The proposed FY 2026 solid waste assessment is $472.68 per residential unit. This represents a $19.44 increase over the FY 2025 adopted solid waste assessment. The solid waste assessment is a pass-through charge that increased 4.3% for FY 2026 based on the U.S. city average CPI for garbage and trash collection.
The $79,880,100 budget represents a 19 percent decrease from the adopted 2025 budget and continues to reflect conservative revenue and expenditure estimates.
This budget shows how Parkland has thrived during the past year. For the 2026 budget year, the City experienced a 6.7% increase, or $548.4 million, in taxable value. This increase resulted in an additional $2.15 million in ad valorem revenue. Even with property values near all-time highs, people continue to relocate to the area, and many choose Parkland, according to city information and a presentation made during the July 8 commission meeting.
The commission approved both September 12 at 5:01 p.m. and September 24 at 6:00 p.m. as the dates and times for the public hearings on the budget. Both meetings will take place at the Parkland Commission Chambers, located at 6600 University Drive, and are open to the public. Â
