Marjory Stoneman Douglas completed another busy week with football and two teams competing in the BCAA and District Tournament. 

Football

Coming off an impressive win against Boyd H. Anderson on October 13, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team fell 38-21 on Thursday night against South Broward High School on Senior Night.

“This year’s senior class has made a path for all the underclassmen to follow in the classroom, the weight room, and on the field,” Head Coach Kieth Hindsley said. “They have battled through tough times and have shown determination to being great men.”

The Eagles honored Lawrence Morantus, Caleb Hensley, Ben McCullers III, Ernest Anicet, Rya Ebersberger, Zach Pluim, Enzo Cabrera, Joshua Morgan, Billy Plough, Adam Zayed, Berkley Charles, Georgio Balderama, John Tardolo, Joey Chiera, Jake Artega, Anthoyn Rosario, Justin Lerner, Jeremy Fishkin, John Gruber, Christopher Glasco, Ethan Alty, William Ross and Ryan Cruz. 

MSD is now 2-6 this year and will have two more games left in the regular season. MSD will face Olympic Heights Community High School on Friday, October 27, before facing Coral Glades the following week. Those two teams have combined to win three games this year. 

The junior varsity team fell in their game against Piper High School 32-0 and have a record of 3-3 on the season. The Eagles will close the regular season with a matchup against Monarch High School on Wednesday, October 25.

Swim 

The swim team had their boys and girls team finish in fourth place, highlighted by Lorenzo Herek winning the 50-yard freestyle. He also came in third in the 100-yard freestyle. Alexander Nichols finished fourth and seventh in a pair of individual races, with Joshua Guo and Frank Etchevers also picking up points. In the boys relay race, MSD finished second in the 4 x 50 medley and eighth in the 4 x 100 relay.

For the girls, Sophia El Chantiry finished second in the 200-yard fly. Reese Balcom and Carly Chin finished eighth for the Eagles, with their relay team finding second in the 4 x 50 medley and fourth in the 4 x 100 relay. Viviana Fernandez, Matias Gold, and Brittany Bean also made the finals for MSD, who will not get set for. 

Cross Country

The boys cross country team finished the District Championship in 12th place, led by Coby Alhadeff, who dined with the top time for MSD. Matthew Rosenberg, Cole Sprinks, and Kyle Plan placed in the top 100.

The girls team finished fifth, with Ella Schwartz placing 14th overall. Caroline Schwartz placed 28th, followed by Sparta Koumoutsakis, Olympia Koumoutsakis, and Esther Bang in the top 50. The Westglades Middle School boys team came in third, while the girl team finished fifth and had Alexys Caropreso place first individually.
