During the week of October 17 to 23, residents can shop locally while supporting a Parkland nonprofit organization at the same time.
By participating in the school safety week “Eat, Shop, & Play” fundraiser, patrons can visit participating local businesses that, in return, will donate back a portion of their sales to Safe Schools for Alex.
Safe Schools For Alex was formed after Alex Schachter, 14, was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre on February 14, 2018. Their mission is to provide school safety and resources so all children can learn in a safe environment.
Proceeds raised from the event will go towards supporting ongoing initiatives and honoring Alex’s memory.
Participating businesses include Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza (Coral Springs location only), Jeremiah’s Italian Ice (Coral Springs location only), Family Bagels of Long Island (weekdays only), and Plaster Carousel.
Sicilian Oven is participating only on October 18, and Basser’s Fine Wine is participating only on October 23.
Customers must mention “Safe Schools for Alex” at the point of sale.
