The Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) swim team honored its seniors after an intersquad swim meet and party at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex on October 17.
Sophia El Chantiry is a very accomplished MSD swimmer who earned first place at the recent BCAA county championship in the 100-meter butterfly. Last year, she competed in the state championship in the 100-meter butterfly and the 50 freestyle. El Chantiry is a member of the Lebanon national swim team and hopes to swim in college. She has a 4.7 grade point average.
“You have to love swimming to be good at it. I have enjoyed being on the MSD swim team,” she said.
Samantha Renna is a four-year member of the Eagles swim team and swims the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke. She has also competed in the 500-meter freestyle. “I enjoyed qualifying for the regional meet in the 500-meter freestyle last year,” she said.
Sienna Grayeli has loved being on the MSD swim team and said she has enjoyed competing in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke.
Christian Nichols has competed all four years on the MSD swim team and also plays water polo. He has competed in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, and 200-meter freestyle. He has a 4.3 grade point average. “I have loved being on the swim team, and I am looking forward to the district meet,” he said.
